C-MAX Racing: The Formula for Success

Passion for speed may be genetic. Dave Riddle got hooked during an on-track driving experience, and after several years of competing in KONI Challenge under other teams' banners, he decided to make his own way in the sport.

Take one look at the team name Riddle chose, though, and it becomes clear that he has more than his own racing in mind. C-MAX, which is also the name of Riddle's company, symbolizes the names of his daughter Claire and his son Max. C-MAX Racing was started with the intention that Riddle's son will eventually join the team - and his dad - behind the wheel of the C-MAX Porsche 997. Already a Stars of Karting and Skip Barber competitor, Max won't have far to go to catch up.

C-MAX Racing was formed in 2006, and the team jumped right into a full season of KONI Challenge competition in 2007. To start building a winning team, Riddle brought longtime co-driver Kris Wilson on as team manager, and Fiorano Racing's Gianni Panico joined as crew chief.

With solid leadership and driving skills in place, all C-MAX Racing needed was a car or, in this case, two. Riddle has always been a fan of the Porsches, so choosing the 997 was easy. A rig and all of the equipment needed for the KONI Challenge format, which includes pit stops, soon followed.

In 2007 the No. 26 Fiorano Racing / C-MAX / Denon Porsche 997 was successful right from the start, achieving more in their rookie season than many teams do in an entire career.

To date, C-MAX has earned six top-ten finishes in just nine races, including the overall win at Watkins Glen International. Riddle and co-driver Jean-Francois Dumoulin shared the victory at the historic track. Riddle and Wilson were on the podium at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, as well, with a third-place finish.

Continuing the success had by the team in 2007 is the primary goal in 2008. Unitech Racing, Inc. has been brought on board to help achieve even more podium finishes during the teams second full season.
